to the world with safe and attractive products that combine traditional taste and style.

Saongwon was a government office during the Joseon Dynasty responsible
for preparing the king’s meals and managing food supply within the royal palace.

SAONGWON is a global K-Food company that provides healthy food to modern-day people
and leads Korean food globalization by inheriting and developing the unique taste of
Korean food that can be enjoyed as somethig ‘delicious’, ‘fresh’, ‘safe’ and ‘easy’ with a
mind that is thoroughly customer-oriented as in the old time service for the king.

Historical Origin of SAONGWON

From the description by "National Institue of Korean History"...

The Joseon dynasty established Saseonso (司膳署) in the first year of King Taejo's reign (1392 CE) after the Goryeo dynasty, and then, renamed it as Saongbang (司饔房).
The dynasty renamed it SAONGWON (司饔院) in the 13th year of King Sejo (1467 CE), which continued until the end of the Joseon dynasty. "Gyeonggukdaejeon", completed and published in the 16th year of King Seongjong (1485 CE), provided for SAONGWON in ‘Jeongsampung Amunjo (正三品衙門條)’ of ‘Ijeon (吏典)’, stipulating that it oversaw the tasks such as ‘royal dining services (供御膳)’ and ‘food supply in the palace (闕內供饋)’. SAONGWON was in charge of all the royal dining and other meals (膳食) in the palace, so its duties included the preparation of all the food materials necessary for the meals and the crafting of the vessels necessary for royal uses and other general uses in the palace, although its duties were not specified in the code.
